Urban Water Restrictions - January 2010
On 1 January, Central Highlands Water reduced Stage 4(ex) restrictions for Ballarat and district to Stage 3 and North East Water removed Stage 1 restrictions on its River Murray supplied towns (including Wodonga and Yarrawonga). Permanent water saving rules will apply to the North East Water towns.
Central Highlands Water reduced Stage 2 restrictions for Clunes to Stage 1 on 11 January. North East Water removed Stage 1 restrictions for Beechworth on 20 January, and Goulburn Valley Water introduced Stage 1 restrictions for Longwood on 27 January.
At the end of January, 251 Victorian towns were on restrictions. Of these, 91 were on Stage 1 restrictions, 15 on Stage 2, 44 on Stage 3, 19 on Stage 3a, 64 on Stage 4 with general exemptions and 18 on Stage 4. Approximately 270 towns were not on water restrictions but were subject to Permanent Water Saving Rules.
