Restrictions on Diversions - December 2009

Rosters and restrictions on diversions from unregulated streams.
At the end of December, diversions from a total of 130 unregulated streams and lakes across the state were subject to restrictions. This is similar to the same time last year when 133 streams were on restriction.

In northern Victoria, Goulburn-Murray Water introduced Irrigation Bans on three streams in the Loddon catchment, two in the Mitta catchment, and one stream in the King basin. Also, a Stage 3 restriction on Hurdle Creek in the King basin was upgraded to an Irrigation Ban.

Melbourne Water reinstated pumping bans on two streams and introduced bans on two streams during December. Pumping restrictions were introduced on one stream.

Bans on diversions from all unregulated streams in the GWMWater region remained in force.

Southern Rural Water did not make any changes to the restrictions on diversions this month.
