Streamflows - November 2009
Rainfall events in the last week of November provided a temporary boost to streamflows across many parts of Victoria. Coming after several weeks of hot weather, the rain did not produce significant inflows to storages.
At the end of November, only two of the 28 representative stations recorded flows above 60% of the long-term November average. Eight stations recorded flows less than 10% of the long-term November average, including three with no flows.
At the end of the month, the Werribee River at Ballan was the only station to record flows above 100% of the long-term November average (114%). While this only resulted in a 1.5% increase Werribee’s storage levels since the end of October, it was an important improvement for irrigation supplies.
Of the 28 representative stations, four have flows lower than in November 1982.
