Streamflows - March 2009

At the end of the month, streamflows improved in some areas of Victoria. However, across most of the state, increased rainfall did not result in significant improvement to streamflows.

At the end of March, no flow conditions were recorded at 14 of the 28 representative gauging stations. Four stations exhibited flows less than 10% of the long-term average for March.

The highest flows, at 80% of the long-term March average, were recorded on the Rose River in Matong North (in the Alpine region).

Streamflows were equal to or lower than the average flow recorded in the 1982/83 drought at 23 of the 28 representative stations. Streamflows were equal to or lower than the lowest flow on record for March at 14 stations.
