Rainfall - June 2008

Victoria experienced a warm and dry June, with rainfall totals below average across most of the state.

The situation in the east of the state was worse, with rainfall totals for June very much below average in parts of the East Gippsland and Northeast districts.

The highest monthly rainfall total of 188.0 mm was recorded at Mount Baw Baw in the Alpine region of Victoria.  The lowest monthly total of 9.0 mm was recorded at the East Sale Airport in Gippsland. 

Eight rainfall recording sites across the state experienced their lowest June rainfall for at least 20 years, and another four sites experienced their lowest June rainfall on record.

Melbourne received only 33% of the normal total rainfall for June.
