Storage Levels - May 2008

The decline of volumes in the major storages throughout the state slowed during May, decreasing by 0.1% over the month.  At the end of May, Victoria’s share of the volume in major storages in the state was at 17.9% of capacity, compared with 13.4% at the same time last year.

Melbourne's storages decreased by 1.4% during the month to finish at 30.1% of capacity (1.3% higher than at the same time last year).  

Rural water corporation storages increased by 0.2% to finish the month at 15.7% of capacity (5.1% higher than at the same time last year).

The decline of storage has slowed due to decreased demand and modest storage inflows throughout May. Storage volumes remain very low in central and northern Victoria.
