Comments, reactions and suggestions from individuals, community groups, businesses and other organisations are helping to ensure that we accurately assess water supply options, and that water demand is balanced across the needs of all users.
Draft Strategy Submissions
The three month consultation period following the release of the draft Northern Region Sustainable Water Strategy has culminated in 177 submissions being received on proposals to secure water for farms, towns and the environment for the next 50 years. Stakeholders, communities and individuals across the region have responded to future water needs and possible solutions to water availability. Draft Strategy submissions closed on 12th December 2009. Discussion Paper Submissions

The establishment of an Independent Panel for the Northern Region SWS is a legal requirement under the Water Act (1989). The Independent Panel is providing advice and recommendations to the Government throughout the development of the Strategy. Members of the Independent Panel are listed in Appendix 2 of the Draft Strategy below:
