Water Savings Protocol
There is a Water Savings Protocol for calculating, applying and allocating water savings generated from irrigation modernisation projects.
The protocol provides the community with greater confidence in the savings gained from projects such as the $2 billion irrigation modernisation program in Victoria’s Food Bowl.
A panel of two independent auditors has been established to carry out audits of water savings to ensure estimates have been done in accord with the protocol. The members of this panel are Cardno (Qld) Pty Ltd and Arup Pty Ltd. Both firms were selected after demonstrating the required independence, capability and expertise to carry out water loss and savings audits.
