Government Response

The Victorian Government has responded to the Food Bowl Modernisation Steering Committee’s Final Report.

The committee submitted its report to Government in November 2007, after consulting widely with the community and stakeholders.

The Government announced as part of its response the creation of a new state owned entity, the Northern Victoria Irrigation Renewal Project, to deliver this landmark project.

The Northern Victoria Irrigation Renewal Project will work closely with Goulburn-Murray Water, irrigators and other stakeholders to optimise the full benefits for the region.

Based in the region, it will provide an important local source of employment and will become a key part of the community. One of its key focuses will be engaging with irrigators and other stakeholders during each phase of the project.
