January 2011
The marine intake and outlet structures are now complete, and the jack up barge has departed Wonthaggi. With the intake tunnel finished and the outlet tunnel about 80 per cent complete, the focus will shift to joining the structures to the tunnels.
The steel frame of the reverse osmosis building – the largest building on site – is now about two thirds complete, and about half of the panels that will form the first layer of the green roof are in place. With the dual media pressure filter vessels now all on site, work has begun on the building that will house them.
There are now more than 3200 people at work on the project, including almost 2300 working on the plant site, including tunnelling and marine, and close to 600 on the power and pipeline.
On the utilities easement, 53.3 km of pipe has been laid and 34 of 38 road crossings have been completed. More than 64km of power conduit and 56.4 liner km of cable has been laid. Work is also progressing on the Booster Pump Station at Clyde North.
