The project is currently approximately 70 per cent complete. About 11 million man hours have been worked to date, with a strong focus maintained on safety and compliance with the strict environmental performance requirements of the project.
This month has seen the completion of the power cable installation while 98 per cent of the pipeline installation has been completed.
Hydrotesting of the first 8km of the transfer pipeline (from Berwick) was successfully completed this month. This process involves the filling and pressurising of the pipe. Hydrotesting of the three further sections will continue over the coming weeks.
The installation of the fibre optic cable continues at a rapid rate with 96 per cent of the cable which runs from the plant site to the Cranbourne Terminal Station installed. The distributed temperature sensor, which runs alongside the power cable in also nearing completion with 97 per cent installed.
On the plant site, there are currently 29 buildings being simultaneously constructed. Nearly 86 per cent of the concrete required across the site has been poured while nearly 77 per cent of the precast panels have been installed. Mechanical electrical work is progressing under cover of the reverse osmosis building roof.
