March 2012
Energisation of the plant’s 87km underground power cable was successfully completed with power now flowing to the plant site. Crews are connecting the 29 plant site buildings which progresses the commissioning process.
Road reinstatement began this month on some of the roads used for heavy haulage during the construction phase of the Victorian Desalination Project.
Roads where works were scheduled to begin included Turnbull-Woolamai Road in Kilcunda, and Dalyston-Glen Forbes, McGrath and Eden roads in Glen Forbes. Works on Woolamai Road in Woolamai are scheduled to begin in April.
Pre-condition surveys were carried out on designated roads prior to works commencing and road reinstatement will see roads returned to their original condition.
As spoil removal from the pipe and power supply easement wraps up, crews are also focusing on reinstatement along the easement. Similar to roads, pre-condition surveys were carried out and with the agreement of landowners, land will returned to its original condition. Pasture has already been sown in a few areas continues to progress in generally favourable weather.
