The Guidelines for Stabilising Waterways (1991) the second document prepared under the auspices of the then Standing Committee on Rivers and Catchments 1991 articulates principles of river behaviour and sets out a methodology for the identification and assessment of a particular waterway management problem and the selection of an appropriate strategy to address the problem.
The document covers some of the more common techniques employed by waterway managers to stabilise waterways, including the design, construction and maintenance of associated on-ground works.
