Groundwater Management Units Inventory
Groundwater in Victoria is categorised into selected Groundwater Management Units (GMUs) according to similarities in the characteristics of different groundwater resources, for example rock type, depth and any management rules that may be specified.

Access to Groundwater Management Units Inventory information is now available from Groundwater Online. The inventory provides a brief summary of each resource including:
- GMU status (Groundwater Management Area, Water Supply Protection Area or Unincorporated Area)
- Current Prescriptions and Principles - including the Permissible Consumptive Volume (PCV), specifying the volume of water that may be extracted and information about how the PCV was set.
The DSE Groundwater and Licensing Branch has compiled the inventory. More detailed, technical information is available to Rural Water Corporations and DSE staff.
