Werribee System

The Minister for Water has allocated water to an environmental entitlement for the Werribee River.  The environmental entitlement is for 10% of the inflows to Lake Merrimu, which previously were not allocated to any water user.

The Minister for Water has also approved an application from Southern Rural Water to amend the Bulk Entitlement (Werribee System – Irrigation) Conversion Order 1997 under section 44 of the Water Act 1989. The amendments allow for greater flexibility in how the Werribee water supply system is operated, including to accommodate the environmental entitlement.
