Amendment to Goulburn System Bulk Entitlement
The Minister for Water, the Hon Peter Walsh MLA, has received an application from the Victorian Environmental Water Holder, under section 44 of the Water Act 1989, to amend one of its bulk entitlements on the Goulburn system:
Victorian Environmental Water Holder application (PDF~367kB)
The application is for an amendment to the Bulk Entitlement (Goulburn system – Snowy Environmental Reserve) Order 2004. A copy of the bulk entitlement can be viewed on the Victorian Water Register.
The application seeks to make changes to the Entitlement to recognise water savings resulting from irrigation modernisation in the Goulburn and Shepparton irrigation areas which go towards meeting Victoria’s commitments under the Water for Rivers targets for the Snowy and Murray Rivers.
A total of 18,000 ML of long term water savings have been achieved and verified by independent audit. It is proposed to have these savings recognised as 13,440 ML of high reliability entitlement and 8,156 ML of low reliability entitlement.
Amending this entitlement will not have a material impact on other entitlement holders in the Goulburn basin.
